Welcome!

Welcome!

We decided that May 2019 was the month we’d do it and challenge ourselves to the ultimate UK cycle ride. The main reason for picking May was to avoid the Scottish midges! If all goes to plan and we complete the 28 day stages, we will finish before the females hatch in Scotland in June.

We’ve always wanted to join up the jigsaw of places we know in our home country by cycling its whole length and to enjoy the changing landscape as it reveals itself on our journey.

Although we’ve cycled for many years on holiday in Europe, pedalling around the Med in 30°c is easy peasy compared to the terrain, weather and days in the saddle we will encounter on this epic trip.

As many of you know, we were shocked and terrified by Andy’s diagnosis of prostate cancer last summer but remain positive that his consultant’s regular monitoring of his condition via blood tests, MRI scans and biopsies means that surgery and its inherent side effects are still a long way off. His health and positivity are both incredibly good so we’re grabbing this opportunity with both hands.

As a tribute to all the help and advice we’ve received from the NHS, MacMillan and Prostate Cancer UK, when we felt scared and desperate for reassurance we’ve decided to try and raise some money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate Cancer UK is a national charity that aims to shift the science of prostate cancer over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support. The aim is to stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Please support this worthwhile charity if you can.
